Proacta currently conducts its preclinical research work at the University of Auckland, and holds an exclusive worldwide license for all intellectual property developed through this research in the field of hypoxia activated prodrugs for the treatment of cancer.

Preclinical development of PR509 and PR610

Proacta is currently engaged in a collaborative research, development and commercialization agreement with Yakult Honsha Co., Ltd., focusing on PR610 and PR509 for development and commercialization in Japan.

PR509 and PR610 are proprietary hypoxia-activated irreversible multi-kinase inhibitors. The collaboration with Yakult is working towards gaining IND approval for these compounds in the US. Clinical development will focus initially on non-small cell lung cancer resistant to reversible tyrosine kinase inhibitors such as erlotinib and /or gefitinib. In addition, we will evaluate PR509 and PR610 in other cancers such as gastric, breast and pancreatic, that are currently treated with first-generation reversible tyrosine kinase inhibitors.

Both PR509 and PR610 are currently available for licensing in regions outside of Japan.
